Latin Name: Citrus Nobilis
Part Of Plant Used: Fruit Peel

Extraction Method: Cold Expression
Mandarin Essential Oil is derived from Citrus Reticulata, obtained through the cold compression of the peel. In addition, Mandarin Petitgrain oil is extracted in smaller quantities via steam distillation of the leaves and twigs. This exquisite oil features a golden yellow-orange hue and possesses the delightful aroma of fresh oranges.
Mandarin oranges encompass a variety of citrus fruits, including Satsuma, Clementine, Dancy, Honey, Pixie, and tangerines. Its gentle nature makes this oil ideal for treating even children and pregnant women, standing out as one of the few oils suitable for these delicate groups.
With its tonic and stimulating effects on both the stomach and liver, Mandarin oil is beneficial for alleviating digestive issues. It is also effective in addressing acne, oily skin, and spots. Diluted at around 1-2% in a carrier oil, it can be gently massaged onto a child’s tummy to alleviate tummy aches. A few drops added to a bath can calm hyperactive children. When used in an oil burner, it dispels feelings of depression and alleviates anxiety.
The name “Mandarin” originates from the tradition of offering these fruits as gifts to the mandarins of China. In France, Mandarin is recognised as a safe remedy for treating indigestion in children and is beneficial for the elderly, as it aids in strengthening the digestive system and liver.
Native to Southern China and the Far East, the Mandarin orange made its journey to Europe in 1805 and to America in 1845.
