Latin Name: Cinnamomum Zeylanicum
Part Of Plant Used: Leaves & Twigs

Extraction Method: Steam Distillation
Cinnamon Essential Oil is meticulously extracted by steam distillation from the Cinnamomum zeylanicum tree, also known as Ceylon cinnamon or true cinnamon. This essential oil comes in two varieties: the gentler oil derived from the leaves, which appears yellow to light brown and is commonly used in aromatherapy, and the darker brown oil from the bark, which is less frequently preferred for aromatherapy.
This soothing oil possesses remarkable antiseptic properties. When used in an oil burner, it is believed to alleviate colds and bronchitis while also lifting your spirits. For wellness, it can assist with bronchitis, diarrhoea, chills, infections, flu, rheumatism, and arthritis when added to bath water or blended into a comforting massage oil. It’s known to ease nausea and vomiting, as well as stimulate the glandular system to help reduce menstrual pain. Please avoid using the leaf oil during pregnancy. The bark oil is potent and should only be used diluted under expert guidance.
The cinnamon tree, native to the Indian subcontinent, has been a significant item of trade for centuries, connecting India, China, and Egypt. The origins of cinnamon were once shrouded in mystery for the Western world. Historical accounts from Herodotus and others suggested that Arabia was the source of this fragrant spice. Legend has it that giant Cinnamon birds collected cinnamon sticks for their nests from an enigmatic location where cinnamon trees flourished. The Arabs were said to have cleverly obtained the cinnamon from these birds, a belief that persisted until 1310 in Byzantium.
