10 ml Lime Essential Oil

This Lime Essential Oil is derived from Citrus aurantifolia, commonly known as Mexican or West Indian lime, as well as sour lime. The oil is meticulously extracted from the peel of the unripe skin through cold expression or from the peel and/or the whole ripe fruit using steam distillation. It features a sharp, citrus aroma that instantly uplifts your mood, while its colour ranges from pale yellow to light olive.

When used in an oil burner, lime oil invigorates a weary mind and alleviates feelings of anxiety, apathy, and depression. It is effective in reducing fevers associated with colds, sore throats, and flu, while also boosting immunity and soothing coughs, bronchitis, sinusitis, and asthma. This essential oil may aid in relieving arthritis, rheumatism, and poor circulation, as well as combat obesity and cellulite.

Lime oil is beneficial for the skin; it helps to reduce oiliness and acne, and can assist with herpes, insect bites, and minor cuts. However, please note that the oil obtained through cold expression may cause photosensitivity and skin irritation.

Originally from Asia, limes are now cultivated in warm climates such as Italy, the West Indies, and the Americas. Interestingly, limes contain a lower Vitamin C content than lemons, and were historically carried on long sea voyages to prevent sailors from developing scurvy due to Vitamin C deficiency.
