This Pure Frankincense Essential Oil is steam distilled from the resin of the Boswellia carterii tree, a member of the Burseraceae family, and is also known as Olibanum. The term itself originates from the French word ‘franc,’ meaning luxuriant. Alongside myrrh, frankincense holds the distinction of being one of the earliest gums used for incense. Indigenous to the Middle East, this remarkable tree is believed to thrive in a natural bonsai formation within its arid habitat. Frankincense is revered for symbolising divinity.
